About The Event
It's 5 years since the trail was launched . To celebrate the anniversary we have used some of the surplus generated by sales of the guide book to co-fund the provision and installation of 2 new kissing gates on the trail. One of these gates will be formally opened by Kate Ashbrook, during the optional Oakengates to Wellington walk ,We are also having a celebration in Leegomery Community Centre which is next to the trail The full celebration is in several parts:
Optional all day walk with the Rail Ramblers , for details, adapted from the Rail Ramblers programme, see below.
The celebration is at the Leegomery Community Centre from 4 pm onwards.
There will be another optional short walk at about 4.15 pm , this will use the Trail to go to Apley Woods, take a short tour around, then return by the same route.
5.00 pm short speeches -including from the Mayor and from Kate Ashbrook. Kate is currently a vice-president of Ramblers GB and patron of the Walkers are Welcome Towns Network, among other things. She was also one of the trio that opened the trail, back in 2018. See photo.
Launch of the Telford T50 50 Mile Trail Video produced by Telford College.
5.30 pm Toast (Alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
Followed by cutting of the celebration cake and a finger buffet
You are then welcome to mingle , the event will formally end at about 7.30 pm but you can drift away whenever you wish.
